Max Kelly
It is with great sadness that we hear of the sudden death of Max Kelly in Sydney, a few days ago.
Max Kelly was truly one of the founders of category theory, having worked actively in the field since the 1960s. He was knowledgable about many diverse subjects. Until the end of his life he was a keen researcher and active member of the Aus Cat group, often attending seminars despite difficulties with his sight. We will all miss him.

On the powers of 3^6 in coupling constants, something Dorigo brought up reminded me of the axion / photon coupling constant. See equation(9) in astro-ph/0607294. It is 3.8 x 10^-6/GeV.
Now earlier I showed that the gravitational and Fermi coupling constants are related by a power of 729 (and an even power no less).
The Fermi constant is 1.16637 x 10^{-5}/GeV^2, so to get a dimensionless number you have to divide it by the square of 3.8x10^-6. To get 729^2, one need only modify the "3.8" to "4.6", not much of a change.
What I'm saying here is that the axion / photon coupling constant is likely to be accurate, and to indicate new physics that will be compatible with the rest of what I'm working on.
