Home Sweet Home II

I just found out that the department decided not to take my application for a tutoring job seriously this term, since I might not be here all year (um, where exactly would I be going?) so if posts are a little infrequent this week it is only because I will have to be very busy applying for waitressing jobs.

Hi kneemo. I can assure you, that is really my only option. And after receiving the usual lectures last week about how other people my age have actually done something with their lives, I have to say I take much more pride in being a good waitress than pandering to the demands of a society that would rather I didn't exist.

Are you waitressing in New Zealand or Australia? Actually I love fast food, so if you don't mind, maybe you can take a job in McDonald's, please?

Be sure to publish news of your hours and the restaurant's name, so we can all turn up there to enjoy your hospitality, and reward you with a little tip for good service!

Nigel, it will take me some effort to get a job without references, but I'll let you know when I do. McDonalds have not turned down my application yet, but then neither have they replied.

kneemo, I'm not sure how long it will take. My guess is they will draw it out as long as possible, which means October some time.

Whoa, that's quite a while. I've been studying Yi-Zhi Huang's operad/gvoa book. Did you ever get a hold of this?

In most of the text, he uses spheres with tubes of type (1,n), i.e., each sphere has one negatively oriented tube and n positive oriented tubes (attached to punctures). In the twistor MHV picture, such spheres remind me of the disconnected instantons from which the ---+++ and --+-+ amplitudes receive contributions (hep-th/0312171).

Hang in there. At least waitresses and service people make a valuable contribution to society. It is also a portable skill that you can take to Oz, NZ or many places in the world. Job security for waitresses is much better, and a waitress can make more than a postdoc..

Hi Kea, yes, I concur with Louise... And if waitressing is the only option, then it is a good one.

I only hope you will find a waitressing job that allows to keep blogging!

Hang in there, the future is bright.

Cheers,
T.
