Resolving Power

It is quite a while since we looked at Batanin's picture of the three dimensional permutoassociahedron, so here it is! Observe how it resolves each vertex of a permutohedron (labelled by an ordering of four letters) into a pentagon (which represents the Mac Lane bracketings of four letters). This is a 120 vertex polytope.

Wonderful! You should see some of the minerals from my collection... There are a few garnets which show the same substructure of the vertices...

Cool, Tommaso! I vaguely remember fossicking as a small child (which my family did a lot) but I don't think I have any finds left, with the exception of a few pretty opal fragments.
