Happy New Year! Given that you are not a terrorist, I think that it will be sorted out in the end. I certainly sympathise with your plight. At this rate the UK will drive away any serious researchers.
I used to have a job washing dishes too. I got so good at it that now I get to wash them every night after dinner.
