M Theory Lesson 296

The binomial coefficent that underlies the Catalan numbers is the central one: for $p = 2$. Consider the analogue for $p = 3$. If my algebra is correct, this is given by the formula which is similar in spirit to a certain decomposition of the Catalan numbers.
